The Controller is responsible for the performance and/or direct supervision of all accounting and finance functions. Primary responsibilities include supervision of the monthly close process, billings to clients for services provided, collection of accounts receivable, supervising accounts payable, monthly reporting for the Executive Team and preparation of the annual budget and mid-year forecasts. The Controller will also be part of a team that creates and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all facets of the accounting department including the Business Office, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Reporting.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of the general ledger and the timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes. Provide meaningful financial data/reporting to management.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and all related supporting schedules ensuring completeness, accuracy and proper accounting treatment in compliance with GAAP and internal company policies.
  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for preparation of the annual budget and all mid-year forecasts. Manage the monthly budget variance process.
  • Manage all financial and business case analysis and provide all decision support assistance to organization departments.
  • Coordinate and manage all audit activities.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures related to employee expense accounts. Ensure proper review and approval of all company related expenses incurred by applicable employees.
  • Recruit, train and mentor the accounting team, managing work allocation, problem resolution and performance evaluations and build an efficient, effective team.
  • Establish and maintain a current system of internal financial controls.
  • Protect the organization, its Board and its staff from any claims of liability.
  • Protect intellectual property, information and files from loss or significant damage.

 

 

EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED SKILLS:

  • BS in Accounting, CPA preferred.
  • Cost accounting experience is a huge plus.
  • Must have very strong accounting, reporting and process skills.
  • Five plus years of experience in hiring, training, supervising and motivating a team.
  • Very hands on, working very closely with the CEO, will also require some travel.
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency to achieve exceptional results.
  • Data integrity is mandatory requirement due to the nature of this position, and the entire company. High priority.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership.
