Production Planner


Ensures all jobs are properly planned and expedite work orders and materials to meet internal and external customer requirements.  To maintain a formal planning program to maximize efficiency, balance inventory investment and meet customer delivery deadlines.


Ensure jobs and materials are planned, purchased and kitted to support successful delivery of product.

Advise management of status of works in progress, material availability and potential scheduling conflicts. 

Coordinate with Machine Shop Programmers, purchasing, engineering, sales, service, parts and shipping department to communicate issues, concerns or problems that could compromise scheduling date and commitments

Create and manage SAP production floor Work Orders on a day-to-day basis

Update weekly Production report “shortages and WOs status” for Production and Sale department.

Perform the “make” or “buy” decision on all new materials.

Convert all project production orders from the planned status to “created” bases on available capacity in the respective work centers.

Analyze new orders with respect to capacity planning and material availability, based upon the Master Schedule and present conflict resolution when necessary.

Ensure all top-level work orders created are linked to a Sales Order.

Ensure all inventory required to ship are links to a Sales Order.

Ensure all push out and pull in due date on Work orders match with ship date on Sale Order.

Expedite work orders and materials through the manufacturing floor in order to meet internal and external customers.

Ensure work orders are released with standard runtimes and costs.

Review Weekly open work orders to ensure, set up, link, close accuracy.

Ensure materials have been correctly issued and kitted to work orders.

Provide the Material Handlers with daily/weekly work schedules clearly listing their material handling and maintenance priorities to support manufacturing.

Cost quoting within SAP for Manufacturing, engineering and parts sales, using a created BOM and routing.

Provide Work Order costs for time and materials Jobs.

Implementation & utilization of SAP system

Required Skills

To perform the job successfully, this individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

Soldi understanding of mechanical principles – prefer experience in manufacturing environment

Prefer Associates degree or higher in chain supply management or related discipline and year or more experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Solid understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP)

· Solid understanding of Inventory Management

· Self-motivated, organized and efficient in time-management

· Effective written and verbal communication ability

· Must demonstrate proficiency Word and Excel.

· Comply with company policies and safety regulations.

Physical Requirements

Required to sit, stand and walk as a normal daily work posture.  Lifting from 15 pounds up to 25 pounds
