DESCRIPTION:

This position is for a Sr. Manufacturing Engineering. The primary responsibility will be direct support of the Manufacturing under the supervision Manufacturing Engineering Manager. Candidate will support both the tactical and strategic goals and objectives through the implementation of lean principles of manufacturing, documentation and improvement of manufacturing methods, implementation of capital equipment and advancement of manufacturing technology throughout Operations. Candidate’s responsibilities include the creation of Process Plans, tool design, gage planning, fixturing concepts, prove-out and troubleshooting of processes, cost estimates, time standards, technical support of shop floor, specification, justification and implementation of capital equipment, development of new processes, implementation of lean concepts on the Manufacturing floor, and support Design for manufacturability efforts. Develop floor layout in CAD, develop designs for: returnable racks, fixtures, and tools. Expectation is all ME / Design activities will integrate EH&S, Quality, Delivery, Product Cost, and Inventory goals into their daily tasks and projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Write and maintain process routers and work center instructions
  • Lean Visual Factory process and initiatives
  • Leads Small Group Improvement Activity Teams
  • Develop floor layout and updates as it changes
  • Design concept tooling and fixtures for new process and parts
  • Suggest changes to current product with approval from Product Engineer
  • Engineering change control and implementation at the plant floor level
  • Develop manufacturing plans to implement continuous improvement projects
  • Support and / or facilitate 5S and point Kaizen activities for Operations
  • Perform cost engineering and standard analysis on products and processes
  • Develop capital plans for introducing or replacing machinery and equipment
  • Provide make versus buy analyses on products and processes
  • Perform capacity and factory layout analyses
  • Audit and Approve ECRs/ECNs for new product and for current product and process
  • Develop new processes and propose new machinery and equipment to support cost reduction, productivity and throughput improvements
  • Understand and implement Lean principles and practices in all manufacturing decisions. Develop 5-Why root cause analysis environment
  • Coordinate with Operations to define best practices and resolve manufacturing issues
  • Participate in and conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) On the Fly and JHA Gold assessments as required to detect and correct potential safety issues on the shop floor

Experience / Qualifications

  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in Manufacturing or related field.
  • Exposure to engineering change order documentation and qualification for operations
  • Knowledge of manufacturing concepts
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing concepts and techniques (Lean tools; Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizan, DMAIC, etc.)
  • Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) exposure
  • Good analytical skills and should be detail-oriented
  • Ability to adapt & implement modern technology quickly
  • Flexible with hours to support operation and new product launches
  • Strong communication skills (written & verbal) required
  • Strong leadership skills required
  • Strong computer skills required
  • Strong Experience in CAD/CAM
    • Product design capability
    • AutoCAD layout capability
  • Ability to work in a team and meet deadlines
