Summary Statement:
Applies extensive knowledge of principles, theories, concepts and industry standard practices to the planning, directing and coordination of manufacturing processes within an aerospace structure assembly and composite manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Develops solutions to a variety of complex and unusual problems that require independent judgment and ingenuity to modify procedures standards related to planning, scheduling and manufacturing engineering fields. Work is accomplished under general direction and completed work is reviewed for results.
Has extensive experience with incorporating Lean Manufacturing techniques (i.e. Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, 5S, etc.) and able to coordinate, direct, engage and plan Six Sigma/Lean process improvement activities. Provide support to institutionalize the processes of Continuous Improvement in accordance with organizational goals and objectives. Champion cost savings initiatives using industrial engineering principles. Act as area expert in continuous improvement, accountable for developing and implementing capacity studies, facility layout, planning, and work methods. Enhance manufacturing organizational performance to reduce scrap and piece-part costs.
Reviews and evaluates special product requests from customer for conformance to engineering principles, customer requirements, quality standards, and specifications. Coordinates the design to meet customer requirements and discusses proposal with customer representatives, engineers, and other personnel.
Confers with management in planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. May provide tooling specifications and designs as required.
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
Estimates production time, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Ancillary Job Functions and Responsibilities:
This position may provide administrative and technical leadership over other Stakeholders in the department. Perform other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: MANUFACTURING ENGINEER SENIOR
Formal Education, Training, Professional Certification and Work Experience:
Bachelor degree in an appropriate discipline from an accredited four-year college or university and five (5+) years related aerospace experience and/or training. A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Experience with both aerospace structure assembly and composite manufacturing is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk and hear. The Stakeholder frequently is required to move from one place to another and reach with hands and arms. The Stakeholder must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. Travel between facilities. Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. NRD: Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the stakeholder is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
