Position Summary:
Responsible for providing senior level engineering capability for process evaluation, optimization of refinery operations, equipment and unit health monitoring, project design, start-up, troubleshooting, and testing of units, lead process unit performance testing with limited supervision, take lead process design engineer for capital projects.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):
- Perform engineering activities required to support facility design, configuration control, and operation.
- Provide optimum refinery performance that will meet safety, environmental, reliability, and economic objectives.
- Support/lead design analysis, modifications, resolution of technical issues and general engineering and technical support activities using basic and advanced engineering principles.
- Perform technical and quality reviews of a wide array of engineering and technical products.
- As assigned, perform owner acceptance reviews of design packages developed by design agencies and design change requests issued by construction agencies.
- Provide leadership and coordination of engineering projects and assist in the establishment of knowledge, experience and programs required for effective implementation of such projects.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced Engineering personnel in the performance of duties.
- Apply sound engineering judgment in selecting and applying engineering methods with minimal direction from supervision or peers.
- Support achievement of engineering schedules and commitments.
- Participate in industry forums and trade association meetings to stay abreast of technological and other developments in assigned technical areas.
- Propose process and control improvements to reduce operating costs or improve margin capture.
- Assess value of equipment or catalyst changes.
- Train operations and technical staff in unit operations
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following):
- Foster an environment of open communication, problem resolution, and project ownership.
- As required, perform equipment performance monitoring and analysis of equipment failures during facility operation.
- Operate within and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, industry codes and industry standards.
- Apply industrial and radiological safety practices in the performance of all field duties.
Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering or related field.
Minimum: 8-10 years experience in oil and gas industry.
