Senior Staff Accountant

DESCRIPTION:
  • Support monthly and year-end closings, preparation of financial statements.
  • Meet and communicate regularly with the Controller to contribute to key decisions, financial operations and development of the Company’s plans, programs, and policies.
  • Support accounts receivable, accounts payable, and budgeting as needed. 
  • Stay informed and compliant on accounting pronouncements and resulting reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a resource in the development, implementation and improvement of financial and accounting systems and processes.
  • Demonstrate mastery of the financial and accounting systems and processes.
  • Analyze and track costs related to production, labor, materials, and overhead expenses.
  • Conduct account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage and reconcile fixed assets.
  • Assist in preparation and conversion to new ERP system.  They currently have an old system and this person would be assisting with the roll out and planning of the software conversion that will be happening in the next 8 months. Regularly validate the integrity of the ERP system and conduct regular audits of income statement transactions. Reconcile discrepancies as needed.
  • Assist in preparation, entry, and maintenance of routine AP/AR & GL.
  • Assist in preparing and posting journal entries.
  • Sales & use tax filings and compliance. Some out of state in the near future.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filings.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other accounting standards.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Work cross-functionally to assist in monitoring and analyzing inventory data. Help perform audits, assessments, and inventory reconciliations. Conduct in-depth review and analysis of accounts as required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Demonstrated success in accounting field, preferably in a small to mid-size manufacturing company. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency including experience with macros, Vlookups Pivot Tables, complex formulas, data analysis, generating reports, improving efficiency via automation, etc.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including GAAP.
  • Experience with general ledger reconciliation.
  • Experience in preparing and analyzing financial statements and reports.
  • Strong 10 key skills.
  • Familiarity with SOX compliance requirements a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of budgeting processes and financial analysis techniques.
  • Experience with monitoring and analyzing inventory data.
  • Strong level of professionalism and judgment.
  • Capable of working in a team environment.
  • Aptitude and experience in technical office tools, including ERP software and fixed assets software.
  • High level of integrity, dependability, and the ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional stooping, bending, twisting, leaning, reaching, and ability to move about facilities.
  • Lifting of up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to work closely with department supervision and production personnel.
  • On-site presence required.
  • Routine use of standard office equipment including phones and computers.
  • Keyboarding/typing.
  • Ability to read effectively from a computer screen and/or a paper copy.
