Senior Engineer, Aircraft Coordinator - Flight Test


POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide program management support for aircraft development and certification test programs. Coordinate aircraft work
programs, control aircraft configuration, and schedule flight tests. Coordinate internal and external assistance. Participate in
debriefings. Monitor and report progress against program schedules.
Prepare flight test cards, brief and conduct test flights and document test results. Prepare Flight Test Plans, Type Inspection
Authorizations (TIA), Type Inspection Reports (TIR), and Pilot Operating Handbooks (POH). Ensure that a proper liaison is
established and maintained between Engineering, Quality Assurance and Flight Test Departments.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Research test requirements and prepare test plans.
• Manage aircraft configuration and weight and balance
• Maintain test program schedules
• Coordinate engineering department support.
• Prepare and brief flight cards
• Assist in the conduct of in-flight testing
• Debrief and document flight test results.
• Record real time flight data and operate data acquisition systems
• Reduce flight test data to standard day engineering units
• Read and understand the requirements of Federal Aviation Regulation (CFR14 Part 23).
• Attend technical classes / seminars to keep abreast of flight test practices.
• Maintain a working knowledge of FAA/EASA regulations, guidance material and policies as they pertain to flight testing.
• Attend technical classes / seminars to keep abreast of flight test practices.
• Attend various safety courses.
• Perform other related duties as required.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. May be required to train and assist other employees.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Requires a Bachelors’ Degree in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering with continued advanced training in flight test
engineering; Minimum of five years of experience performing and conducting flight testing related to one of the following
aircraft systems areas: Aerodynamics, Stability and Control, Performance Analysis, Avionics, Mechanical Systems, and or,
Power plant Systems. Experience with aircraft and data acquisition systems, radio communications, and safety devices that relate
to flight test is required.
An FAA pilot certificate is desirable.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:
The employee must possess the ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers in both written and oral form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to an office environment, potential hazards associated with experimental test flying and hot humid conditions in aircraft without air-conditioning. Employee is occasionally exposed to manufacturing environment and elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, chemicals, or some element present which makes conditions less desirable than usually found in an office.
Travel and overtime are required when necessary.
